Geo . How to Change Fuel Injectors on the 1989 5.0The 5.0 Liter engine is a Ford engine found in the Bronco, F-150, F-250, and Mustang in 1989. Using an upper and lower manifold configuration, the 5.0 liter engine is fairly easy when it comes to fuel injector replacement. The fuel injectors have their own individual electrical valves, this enhances accurate and expeditious fuel delivery. Replacing the fuel injectors is a challenging task, but one that can be accomplished in less than three hours by a novice mechanic using the correct tools. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Work light Wrench set Screwdriver set Fuel pressure gauge Fuel can Ratchet and socket set 8-inch ratchet extension Shop rags Gasket scraper Clean engine oil New injectors Torque wrenchRemoval Step by Step : 1 Bring your vehicle to a complete stop. Disengage the engine and open the hood. Allow the engine to cool. Remove the negative battery cable by loosening the cable clamp with a wrench. Move the cable to the side. 2 Depressurize the fuel system by hooking up a fuel gauge to the bleed port at the rear of the fuel rail. Attach a drain tube to the gauge and put the other end of the tube into a fuel can. Open the bleed valve on the fuel gauge and let the fuel drain into the can. Close the bleed valve and remove the gauge from the engine. 3 Remove the air intake tube from the throttle body at the top right -- passenger side -- of the engine. Use a screwdriver to loosen the clamps. 4 Look underneath the throttle body where you just removed the air intake tube. You will see the throttle cable. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the cable from the linkage. Follow the cable back to the mounting bracket on the intake manifold. Remove the bolts holding the bracket by using a ratchet and socket. 5 Tag and label all rubber vacuum hoses that are connected to the throttle body and manifold. Use a roll of tape and a black marker to perform this task. Once the tubes are tagged, pull them off of the manifold and throttle body. 6 Squeeze with your fingers on all electrical connectors and disconnect them. Label with tape as you remove them. 7 Set up a ratchet and socket using an 8-inch extension. Use the ratchet to remove the retaining bolts of the upper intake manifold. On some versions of the 5.0 Liter engine, you will need to remove a metal plate that has some wording or a logo on it. Use a screwdriver to remove the plate. Once the plate is removed, it will expose a few more manifold bolts. Remove these too. 8 Lift the manifold clear of the engine very carefully. Be careful to keep an eye out for any hoses you may have missed. Tag and remove them, if necessary. As soon as the manifold is out, stuff rags into the openings of the lower intake manifold. Then use a gasket scraper to remove the old gasket. 9 Loosen the fittings on the fuel lines attached to the fuel rail assembly. Use a wrench and be careful not to bend the lines. Step by Step : 10 Remove the electrical connectors on the fuel injectors by squeezing them with your fingers. There are 8 injectors, all located in the lower manifold and held in by the fuel rail. Step by Step : 11 Loosen and remove the bolts retaining the fuel rail. Use a ratchet and socket to loosen theses bolts. Once the bolts are removed, you can lift up on the fuel rail to remove it. The injectors should come out with the rail, but if they don't, just grab each one and rotate it as you pull it out. Installation Step by Step : 1 Rub a little clean motor oil on the new injector O-rings. Push each injector into the fuel rail in the same position that you removed the old ones. 2 Position the fuel rail and injectors over the lower manifold. Lower it down and push it in. Be sure all injectors go in evenly and seat fully. Continue holding the fuel rail and hand-thread the fuel rail retaining bolts into the manifold. Torque them to 15 to 22 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. 3 Reconnect the fuel lines to the fuel rail and tighten them with a wrench. Lower the upper intake manifold, with a new gasket, down onto the lower intake manifold. Start threading in the manifold retaining bolts. Torque them to 12 to 18 foot-pounds with a torque wrench. Reinstall the cover plate and screws if necessary. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver. 4 Reconnect all tagged vacuum hoses and electrical connectors. Look in and around to make sure you attached them all. Reattach the throttle cable to the throttle body by pressing it on until it snaps securely. 5 Reinstall the air intake tube to the throttle body and tighten the clamps with a screwdriver. Reconnect the negative battery cable and tighten the clamp with a wrench. Engage the engine and inspect it for fuel leaks. Tips & Warnings Do not smoke in the work area. Fuel is highly flammable.
Geo . How to Repair the Fuel Injector in a 4 Cylinder Mazda 626Sometimes gas deposits build up in your 4-cylinder Mazda 626, making it necessary to repair the fuel injector. Gas naturally leaves behind such deposits, so maintenance should be done on the fuel injector every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. This repair allows the fuel injector to better circulate gasoline, which in turn keeps your Mazda 626 on the road. If the fuel injector isn't repaired from time to time, you will cost yourself later by having to replace the entire part. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Fuel injector cleaner Step by Step : 1 Park your Mazda 626 in a shaded location with room to operate. For best results, park it somewhere on level ground so that the fuel injector cleaner can circulate with ease. 2 Open the gas tank and remove the gas cap. Set the cap either on top of the Mazda's trunk or in a location where it won't get lost or cracked. 3 Open the bottle of fuel injector cleaner. 4 Extend the tube inside of the bottle so that it can be easily poured into your Mazda's tank without spilling. 5 Insert the pouring tube into the tank. Tilt the bottle to allow the contents to flow until the bottle is empty. 6 Turn on your car and let it sit for about 10 minutes. For best results, drive it around the block a few times so that the solution can circulate throughout the tank. *The techniques used to paint the body of a car can vary, depending on the size of the area you're working on and the original paint and finish. Many vehicles are painted with processes that require special primers, layers of dif ferent colors, metallic flake, and special clear coats after the color is laid on. Repainting such a vehicle can be difficult for professionals and absolutely dis astrous for a novice. Unless you have an experienced and steady hand (and the car's original paint has not faded or changed color since it was new), concealing that you repainted anything larger than a small area is almost impossible. Larger areas require spray-painting, which must be done in a well-ventilated area that's free from dust and dirt. A good spray gun can cost a lot — not to mention the air compressor used to power the gun — and a spray gun can wreak havoc if it runs amok in inexperienced hands. So if the area you need to paint is large, it will probably cost you less in time, money, and effort to have the job done by a professional who can match the paint and do the job right. .Chapter 24: Getting Rid of Dings, Dents, and Other Hard Knocks Never attempt to do a major paint job on a good car without trying your hand on an old wreck first. If you fail to prepare and prime the surface properly, the new paint will peel, blister, or flake away before long. If you practice on a junker, you can afford to make mistakes — because even a bad paint job can increase the resale value of a car that's practically worthless to begin with. If you want a cheap but decent job that will last a year or so, find out where local car dealers take the used cars they get as trade-ins to have them spiffed up before resale. To save money, you can remove any rust, spot-fill and paint the small areas yourself, and then have the rest of the job done professionally. Of course, if even a cheapo job is beyond your budget, doing your best with a can of spray paint is certainly better than simply letting a vehicle rust away. 1082

Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.) Practice on a piece of scrap metal before you tackle the car, and don't expect the results to look terrific. 1. To find the right paint color you need, look on the firewall of your car — you should see a little plate with the body number and paint code number on it. If you can't find the paint code number, consult your owner's manual or ask your mechanic or car dealer to point it out to you. 2. Buy a little bottle of touch-up paint that matches the code number at the parts department of a dealership representing the auto-maker that produced your vehicle. If that's not possible, try a professional auto paint supply house. They're also often good sources of semiprofessional advice. If neither source is available, your local auto supply store should have a chart that indicates the proper paint to match your car's make, model, and year. These little bottles of paint usually come with a brush or applicator in them. You also need a small bottle of primer, unless the paint specifies that it doesn't require it. 3. Make sure that the area is rust-free. If the damage is only a deep scratch or a tiny spot, you may need just a dab of rust arrestor to stop the rust from continuing to form under the new paint. If the area is any larger, you must remove all the rust carefully, following the directions in the earlier section called "Dealing with any rust you find." 4. Sand the spot carefully with a tiny bit of #220 sandpaper to rough up the surface so that the primer adheres properly. Work in teeny dabs, feathering the edges and working inward from the surrounding area to avoid enlarging the spot. Geo . What was the make of your maruti swift car?
Volkswagen Jetta. * 500 Part V: He| ing Your Car Look lts Best p 5. Wash the area thoroughly to remove any rust arrester, dust, dirt, filler residue, and wax; then let the area dry completely before you go any further. Primer is used to seal the surface of the metal against rust (caused by air and moisture) and to provide a surface for the paint to adhere to. Primer also fills in tiny holes and imperfections in the surface. The paint then protects the primer from the sun, dust, and heavy weather. And, as you know, wax protects the paint. If you're dealing with a surface scratch or a chip that hasn't gone down to the bare metal, you can probably get away with simply applying the paint. But never apply paint to bare metal. If any metal is exposed, or if the spot is larger than a fraction of an inch, prime the area first. 6. Use a tiny brush or a matchstick to apply the primer sparingly. You shouldn't need more than a drop to cover the damaged area. Avoid getting primer on the original paint. If you do, wipe it off immediately. Let the primer dry thoroughly before going on with the job. If you used glazing putty to fill the dent, you can probably paint right on top of it without priming first. 7. Mix the paint in the bottle thoroughly to blend the color pigments properly. Unless your car is very new, the color probably won't match exactly (which is another reason for keeping the area as small as possible). The paint on new cars doesn't fade as quickly or badly as old paints did. Geo . Can you show me a copy manufacturer's price tag for 1965 GTO Lamans?

Apply the paint, covering the surface of the spot completely, working inward from the edges. If you're painting a scratch or a very small area, you can cut down the brush or use a matchstick or toothpick instead. The paint should be no thicker than the surrounding surface or it will show, run, bubble, or peel off. 9. Wait several days for everything to dry completely, and then polish the car to blend in the painted area and bring everything to a high gloss. 10. Give the car a coat of wax or polymer to protect your hard work. Chapter 23 has instructions for polishing and waxing. Geo .
